Sweet Berry
Another friday, another trip to Lidl in Newington!
This is a first for us, fat free sweets. 'Sweet Berry' are strawberry flavoured jelly shapes. They have a white base and strawberry body, and i assume they are meant to be the shape of strawberries but they're not.
They retail at 89p.
I have to admit to liking these. On the first one there was not much of a taste, it displayed a rather subtle flavour. However, the more i ate the more that fake strawberry taste came through. Lesley pointed out that if you chew them more then more flavour is released.
Externally they are covered in sugar which contrasts well with the foamy interior.
Like always I have eaten too many and now feel sick.
Lesley doesn't like them, she thinks the subtle flavour means you have to chew them too much.
A lukewarm recommendation on this one. I wouldn't buy them again but didn't find them too offensive. I just think sweet corner needs to try a bit harder on these ones, the potential is there.
(They also contain pork gelatine, not for the vegetarians!)

i think these get better with age. they tasted a lot nicer today after being open all weekend.
they did taste better on a second helping. the sugary outside still doesn't really go with the internal texture, however.
