'Luxury' Caramel Shortcakes

4 Luxury caramel shortcakes produced by Rowan Hill Bakery, 89p.

I have to state from the outset that i adore caramel shortcakes. I had wanted to review the apple crumble but when my eyes fixed upon these there was no going back!

These were great, they have a very generous portion of caramel lying on top of a digestive biscuit base with a chocolate crown. They were really firm, and stood up well. There is nothing worse than a soggy caramel slice and one that spills the caramel out when bit into (take note Greggs). But no troubles here.

Nothing more to be added, apart from these will go straight in the top 5. Greggs caramel slices are 52p each, these are 22.5p and far far superior in taste and quality.

Go and buy these now. If you want I will go and buy them for you (but don't expect them to survive the journey).

Thank you once again Lidl, where would we be without you?

however the queue in lidl is comparable to the greggs queue. today we had to stand in the longest lidl queue i've ever seen. at least lidl is quite a big shop so it can accommodate a long queue without everyone having to stand outside and queue down the street like school kids.

have I missed something? I stumbled on this site by accident and oh good lord are we talking about the same place? The place where the undead shuffle around in one of the most depressing places that you can legally get food from??? The final resting place of consumer lost souls? Seriously there are reason's Lidl's prices are so cheap... and lets just say the words "workers rights" "ethics" and "fair trade" don't crop up in their buisness plan that often.

PS I agree that the queues are part of the experience much like shooting pain is part of the experience of being kicked in the nads.

I completely disagree with your review. I'm from Scotland and we are expert of caramel shortcakes ... the Lidl's one are horrendus and have the worst taste I have ever experienced. Mostly is related to the crappy shortcake, but also the chocolate and caramel are low quality and bad taste.

I do enjoy shopping some products from Lidl, however this is not one of them and there is NO comparison to Greggs or Aulds.
